Spc Brandon Cox served as a Cavalry Scout in the US Army for 4 years and 10 months, including a year deployment in Afghanistan. While in Afghanistan, Spc Cox suffered a shot to the head. His helmet stopped the bullet but he suffered significant injuries, including a TBI.  Spc Cox suffers from seizures as a result of his injuries, which can last up to two hours, and renders him unable for employment. Spc Cox was discharged from the Army last month and is waiting to receive his first VA disability check.

The NC Heroes Fund helped Spc Cox and his young family with several bills as they wait to receive VA benefits.
