LCPL Patrick Howard

E-mail
PatrickHoward2 Marine Lance Corporal Patrick Howard was severely injured in Ramadi, Iraq. He was directly hit with two mortar rounds and a gun shot wound to the right side of his chest. His injuries also included: 6 broken vertebrae, broken legs, broken pelvis, hip and ribs, shattered wrist and forearm, two severed arteries, loss of one kidney and half a colon, grade 2 lacerated liver, punctured and collapse of his right lung.

Due to his extensive injuries, LCPL Howard was hospitalized for 4.5 months and has returned periodically to the hospital to receive 24 additional surgeries. LCPL still receives physical therapy but doctors have determined his condition will not improve. The continuous cost of travel from North Carolina to Bethesda, Maryland for treatment have created a financial hardship.

LCPL Howard and his wife, JoAnna are currently expecting their first child. The NC Heroes Fund was proud to grant LCPL and his family a financial hardship grant.
