General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products, Inc. has awarded the North Carolina Heroes' Fund with a $10,000 donation.  The Heroes' Fund would like to thank General Dynamics for their continued generous support of the men and women who defend our freedom.

Heroes' Fund Awards $4,500 in Grants/Scholarships in February 2009

The Heroes' Fund has announced its February recipients: E-6 Gregory Reynolds, E-4 Michael Smyre and Ezekial Overbaugh.  

E-6 Reynolds has over 18 years in the Active Reserves and served a tour of duty in Iraq in 2006.  He is currently stationed in Wilmington, North Carolina.  His wife and two daughters are currently living in Atlanta.  The Reynolds' were unable to sell their Atlanta home after Gregory's assignment to Wilmington, leaving them with a rent payment and a mortgage payment creating a financial hardship.  The Heroes' Fund is happy to help relieve the burden of this financial hardship.

Michael_Smyre_4 E-4 Smyre has served in the military for 10 years and has been injured twice during his duty.  He is currently attending the University of Cincinnati online and is transferring to Appalachian State to achieve his Masters in Criminal Justice degree.  The Heroes' Fund is awarding E-4 Smyre with a partial scholarship to Appalachian State University.
Ezekial Overbaugh's father, GySgt Kenneth Overbaugh, is a 20 year veteran including a tour in Iraq.  Due to his tour of duty he recieved various injuries leaving him 70% disabled.  Ezekial is ranked 12th in his class at Dixon High and is attending North Carolina State University in Fall 2009.  The Heroes Fund his happy to award Ezekial a partial scholarship to NC State University.

The North Carolina Heroes' Fund is proud to award $8,434 in financial hardship grants and scholarships to six servicemen/women who unselfishly served our country in harms way.

Congresswoman Sue Myrick Headlines Charlotte Fundraiser

Congresswoman Sue Myrick gave a spirited address to a packed house on May 29th at the Westin Hotel in Charlotte. The event was the first fundraiser in Charlotte for the North Carolina Heroes Fund. Event sponsors included ARCADIS, Duke Energy, Piedmont Natural Gas, Parker Poe, Edifice, and Kennedy Covington.
