NC Heroes Fund

As we head into summer, the Heroes' Fund is going strong. We have added a new board member, we are in the throws of planning our first Heroes Gala and most importantly - we are assisting our troops that have risked everything for our freedom.

With each passing week, the request for help increases as more and more of our states heroes return home and we need YOUR HELP to continue the good works we have started! As the economy continues to struggle, we are seeing an increased financial pressure on many of our military families. Please consider a tax deductible donation in an effort to help North Carolina’s military men and women. As we approach our nation's Independence Day – let’s reflect back and take the time to thank North Carolina’s true Heroes!

Heroes Fund Helps Soldier out of Foreclosure:

Sgt. Bret Pchelka has been awarded a financial hardship grant. Sgt. Pchelka served for almost 15 years - 10 years in the army and almost 5 in the National Guard.

Sgt. Pchelka was injured in April of 2004,when the truck he was riding in struck an IED. in support of operation Iraqi Freedom, in Iraq, and his injuries have progressively worsened over the past few years. In January of 2009, Sgt. Pchelka was forced to retire early - 3 months short of his 15 year eligibility for early retirement. This placed a financial strain on him and the Heroes' fund stepped in to prevent his house being foreclosed on.
