Rob Cimo is Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, where he has directed corporate law, transactional and governance matters since 2010. He is lead counsel to BCBSNC’s Strategic Development, Legislative Affairs, Specialty Markets and Provider Management groups and to the BCBSNC Foundation. Rob directs the company’s Vendor Contract Analysis & Negotiation unit and serves on BCBSNC’s Enterprise Risk Committee and political action committee.
Prior to joining BCBSNC, Rob practiced healthcare, private equity and venture capital and general corporate law at McDermott Will & Emery and at Kirkland & Ellis. In addition, he has worked as the President and General Counsel of a closely-held construction and real estate development company. Rob has also served as a legislative aide to former U.S. Senator Fred Thompson and as a policy intern to Jack Kemp and Paul Ryan at Empower America. Rob received his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Chicago in 1994 and his J.D. from Georgetown University in 2000.
In addition to the North Carolina Heroes Fund, Rob serves on the Board of Directors of D.I.R.E. (Driver Injury Reduction Effort), which is focused on reducing teen driving fatalities in North Carolina. A native of Chicago, Rob now lives in Chapel Hill with his wife and four daughters.
