Robin Hayes served five terms in the North Carolina House until 2009, he is a businessman with a personal background of community involvement and public service. He represented the 8th Congressional District of North Carolina. The 8th District includes the whole counties of Anson, Richmond, Scotland , Hoke, Montgomery, and Stanly – and portions of Cabarrus, Mecklenburg, Union and Cumberland Counties.
Congressman Hayes served on three House Committees: Agriculture (Ranking member of the Livestock, Dairy and Poultry Subcommittee and also serving on the Specialty Crops Subcommittee, and the Subcommittee on Conservation, Credit, Energy and Research), Transportation and Infrastructure (serving on the Highway and Transit and Pipelines Subcommittee, the Aviation Subcommittee, and the Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee), and Armed Services (Serving on the Terrorism, Unconventional Threats and Capabilities Subcommittee, and the Readiness Subcommittee.) Congressman Hayes also serves as the founding Co-Chairman of the Special Operations Forces Caucus, Co-Chairman of the Philanthropy Caucus, past Co-Chairman of the Sportsman’s Caucus and he is an Assistant Whip in the House leadership.
He earned a degree in History from Duke University in 1967. Upon graduation, he began a career in business that has ranged from textiles to trucking.
Robin and his wife Barbara have been married for 39 years and have two children: Winslow Galloway who resides in Boone, NC with her husband, Lonnie -- and Bob who resides in Charlotte with his wife, Heather. Robin and Barbara are members of First Presbyterian Church of Concord. They are proud to have four grandchildren.
